E.K. Wimmer is currently working on the film score for an upcoming feature documentary discussing the legendary children's horror book series Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark. This documentary is directed by Cody Meirick and features interviews with family, friends and authors like R.L. Stine. More info as it develops.

Artist Lecture at the Wyoming State Museum

 

 

 Cutting and Pasting Our Past: A Critique of Early American History Through Collage Art

Place: Wyoming State Museum, Cheyenne, WY

Artist E.K. Wimmer will discuss his collage series Special Topics, which will be on display at the Museum. Created during an artist residency in 2014 at The Ucross Foundation, this series is comprised of eighteen collages produced with images taken from century old encyclopedia sets. Hundreds of carefully hand-cut graphics from frail pages were used to express a revisionist history of the United States. Using images as archetypes, Wimmer was able to consider topics that include subjects ranging from the discovery of America and the treatment of Native Americans to slavery and Manifest Destiny. The work adds to the conversation on what is already a wide ranging interpretation of a complex, dark, and often violent period in our nation’s history. Join E.K. Wimmer as he discusses the creative process of the Special Topics series as well as a larger conversation on our ever evolving analysis of

The Uber of Killing (Original Shortfilm Score)

The latest original film score is available now for streaming and download! The Uber of Killing (Directed by Tyler Cole) is a short film shot in LA in 2016 and tells the story of a futuristic app that allows people to select their own suicide. 

 

E.K. Wimmer composed and performed the score over the course of a month which includes ambient noises, electronic beats and even a little French love theme.

Scandinavian Collage Museum, Norway

 

 

E.K. Wimmer will be exhibiting alongside and international group of collage artists at the new Scandinavian Collage Museum in Norway.

 

Along with the exhibition, Wimmer's work will also be including in the museum's Permanent Collection.

Ucross Foundation exhibition

E.K. Wimmer has been hard at work creating new pieces for a large two-person exhibition along side wife and fellow artist Maria Rose Wimmer. The exhibition entitled (WE)st opens at the Ucross Foundation in April of and runs through June 2016. More details to come soon.
